Virtual Workshop: Contractor Management

Natalia Olive - Safety Education & ConsultingHow many people working at your location right now are contractors? Think: electricians, plumbers, janitorial services, even the water bottle delivery service. Although these are employees of outside companies, they work at your site alongside your own employees and are exposed to the same hazards.

In addition, each time a contractor walks in, they can bring new hazards to your workplace. And these hazards, if realized, can lead to injuries, property damage and other losses. OSHA has taken notice with a special policy for multi-employer citations to enforce compliance when multiple contractors are working at the same location.

Many companies experience the negative consequences of poor Contractor Management, but it’s possible to implement a program to efficiently reduce these risks.

Join us for a virtual workshop to prepare to evaluate and manage your contractors in the most efficient way. We will begin with an introduction to Contractor Management and the various ways you can prepare your company to best welcome them with the right Contractor Pre-qualification Tools.

Then, we will switch to a hands-on live preparation of a Contractor Safety Assessment Form, reviewing all aspects that are most relevant to your situation. At the end of the session, you will have working copy of this form.

To wrap up, we will discuss how to manage Contractor Orientation to ensure they receive the right information at the right time, and how to monitor their operations to prevent incidents. Should an incident occur, we will review the optimal strategy to manage them.

This session will be fully interactive. We’ll work hands-on with you to craft a Contractor Safety Assessment Form that meets your needs. Please plan accordingly to participate via audio and possibly share your screen as you work on your own version of the form.
